D2L Dropbox Folders
The dropbox tool is the primary delivery method for students to submit assignments. Students submit assignments electronically through dropbox folders. Instructors can then see and download student submissions. Instructors can also grade, leave feedback, and return submitted assignments with comments in the dropbox area. This guide will direct you in how to create a dropbox folder and set desired submission options.

Step 1
Navigate to the Dropbox area of your course and click on the New Folder button.
Step 2
Type a title for the folder in the Name field, and then select a category to organize your folder under using the dropdown menu beneath the Category field (optional). If you do not have a category created, click on the New Category link next to the dropdown menu.
Step 3
Connect the dropbox folder to an item in your gradebook by selecting the correlating item in the dropdown menu next to the Grade Item field. When the dropbox folder and grade item is linked together, grades entered in the dropbox area are automatically transferred to the gradebook. If you have not created grade items in your gradebook yet, click on the New Grade Item link next to the dropdown menu.
Step 4
Enter the point value the assignment is worth, ensuring that it correlates with the same points reflected in the gradebook if associated with a grade item.
Step 5
Scroll down the page. Click the Add Rubric button if you have developed a scoring rubric for this assignment. Then move downwards and click on the Show Submissions Options link to select submission settings for your students.
